§ 34.15. ESTABLISHMENT OF RATES FOR EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE.

  • (A) It is in the best interest of the city and its citizens that user rates be adjusted and re-established for the emergency ambulance service provided by the City Fire Department.
    (B) The following rate schedule is established for emergency ambulance service provided by the Beech Grove Fire Department (for in city responses).

    (C) A charge shall be made for all responses for emergency ambulance service as set out above, provided however there shall be no charge for Advanced Life Support Services if no transportation is required.
    (D) The City Fire Department shall not provide non-emergency ambulance service.
    (E) “BASIC LIFE SUPPORT” shall mean the use of basic first aid techniques.
    (F) “ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT” shall mean the use of basic first aid techniques combined with the introduction of prescribed medicines, fluids and heart monitoring and/or defibrillation; emergency response and oxygen use charges are included in the advanced life support rate.
    (G) “ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT II” shall mean the use of or administration of three or more medicines, and or endo-trachea intubation, cardiac pacing, cardiac conversion and or cardiac defibrillation.
    (H) Mileage for transportation shall be charged per mile at the above stated rate in addition to the rate for Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support services provided.
    (I) City employees injured while engaged in the scope of their duties, as city employees shall receive the above ambulance services free of any charge of any kind by the city.
